Melissa has spent her 15+ year career helping entities manage their business risks
In her position of Director in the Business Risk Services practice at Grant Thornton, Melissa has consulted for large hospitality organizations, family offices, and government entities in the GCC region on managing various internal and external business risks . Through establishing a risk management framework that is tailored to the decision-making needs of the executives and the oversight requirements of their board, Melissa guides organizations in aligning corporate strategy with enterprise and strategic risk management.
Melissa is a graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business and Temple University’s Fox School of Business and holds a Master of Science in Risk Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Applications as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and the designation of Associate in Risk Management by the American Institutes. She has over 15 years of experience in risk management across various industries, namely hospitality, healthcare, food and beverage, financial services, and public sector.
Currently, Melissa is focusing on the use of technology and analytics in the identification, visualization, reporting and the monitoring of risk which extends to strategic, operational, project, supply chain, enterprise and financial risk management as well as internal audit, and corporate governance.
As her interest lies in effective communication of risk, Melissa also works closely with the Leadership of an organization to engage them in strategic dialogues that support risk appetite setting and calculated risk taking through guided trainings on various methodologies to mitigate the uncertainty in decision making outcomes and enhancement of risk reporting at the Leadership level.
Melissa appears in various speaking / training engagements for risk management, transformation, strategic decision making, risk management and communication in the Middle East, attends the annual RIMS conference, and is an active member of the Risk Management Society.
