Sunny is a Director in Grant Thornton UAE’s VAT advisory team. Based in UAE for more than 6 years, he was involved in VAT / Excise implementation projects across GCC (UAE, KSA, Bahrain and Oman) including providing post implementation support.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Sunny was previously associated with a boutique tax advisory firm – WTS Dhruva Consultants (UAE) as Principal and had also worked in large tax advisory firms in India for around 8 years.
Sunny has got experience for working in diverse sectors such as Retail, Financial services, Shipping & Logistics, Insurance, Media & Entertainment, and Real-estate. He has advised on company specific issues arising during VAT / Excise implementation such as transition management, changes in the contracts, pricing impact, transaction structuring, applying for registrations, etc.
Sunny has worked on complex tax opinions and structuring projects including supply-chain optimization, date of supply for large construction contracts, multiple scenarios for goods supplied from Designated Zones, etc.
Sunny has got working experience in managing large heath-checks / compliance review, ERP system implementation / changes, VAT compliance and advisory projects, etc.
Sunny is also involved in filing tax clarifications and reconsiderations including filing objection with Tax Dispute Resolution Committee (TDRC) and Federal Courts.
Sunny regularly delivers trainings to his clients on procedural aspects of VAT, implementation of the advice / solution given, managing VAT documentation, etc.
